A Message from the Tennis Captain
Welcome to the oldest tennis club in Chiang Mai. Our aim is to carry on the same tradition as the Founding Members in 1898 which is to promote the game of tennis to provide a high standard of both competition and sportmanship. The recently upgraded courts and the addition of floodlights provide a first class facility for both experienced payers and those new to the game. We are particularly keen to encourage the young people of Chiang Mai to join us and strengthen our group and to ensure the proud traditions of Gymkhana Club tennis endures.

The first squash competition conducted at the Chiang Mai Gymkhana Club was held in 1911 and known as the Lowe Cup.
The Peter Corney Trophy
The recently inaugurated Peter Corney Trophy (right) which also involves cricket is played between the Chiengmai Gymkhana Club and the British Club (Bangkok) yearly in January.
RBSC Squash Doubles 2016 The Chiengmai Cup
Bob Molloy and Oliver Puginier (see below in blue shirts) represented the Club in the annual Royal Bangkok Sports Club (RBSC) Squash Doubles for the Chiengmai Cup. After losing in the 1st Round to a team from the Hollands Club Singapore, they got through to the 2nd Round of Plate losing to RBSC's No. 1 team. The eventual winners were the Royal Selangor Club from Kuala Lumpur. The Chiengmai Cup, one of the oldest squash trophies in the world which is still being played for, has strong connections with our Gymkhana Club since it was donated to the RBSC in 1909 by Mr. D.F. Macfie, one of our Club's founder members.
On Saturday 24 October 2015, the Squash Section hosted their annual squash match against the Old Vajiravudhians (OV), the alumni team of Vajiravudh College in Bangkok. For many years, the OV team has been the strongest team that we play each year and this year was no exception with a Thai national player as their No. 1. As usual, our Gymkhana team of 8 players gave it their best shot and the final result of 7-1 in matches to the OV doesn't do justice to the individual match scores. Nevertheless, the elegant CGC-OV Squash Trophy stays in Bangkok where we will go next year to try yet again to win it for the first time in nearly 20 years.
